How did you get into cycling?

Through my interest in backpacking I made some friends who were super enthusiastic about bikes. I was already interested in human-powered transport, and I was impressed by their stories of adventure by bike. I had not ridden one since I was a kid, so I bought an old road bike on craigslist to ride around Buffalo. I've been hooked since.

What is your favorite bike ride?

I once spent the day exploring bike infrastructure in New York City. While it is by no means perfect, the relative ease and safety of getting around by bike there was inspiring. There is a wonderful, comprehensive and free Bike Map that one can find at any bike shop in NYC.

Winter riding: inside, outside or both? 

Outside because I like to have type II fun.

What is something you'd like our community to know about you?

I like to make my own backpacking gear in my free time.
